The brig Mutiny
Forty-one meters from taffrail to stem, a quarterdeck and forecastle, two square-rigged masts and twelve guns. The same wave math drives the sea you see and how she rides it, in calm, squall or full storm.

Crew one big ship on a vast ocean. Fight your way up the chart, and keep her afloat on the way.
Broadside is a free co-op roguelike on the open ocean that you play in your browser, in alpha. You and up to seven friends crew one ship, the brig Mutiny, and fight your way up a branching chart of marks to one of two finales: the Reef King or the Drowned Admiral. It is for groups who like every player to have a job: someone steers, someone works the guns, and someone patches holes and pumps the hold. You can also sail alone. Walk the deck with WASD and press E to man the wheel, a gun or the pump.
Your crew sails the brig Mutiny: 41 meters, two square-rigged masts and twelve guns, riding real waves that heave, pitch and roll her. You walk her decks in third person. Take the wheel to steer and set the canvas, man a gun to train, elevate and fire. Go over the rail and you swim for the ladder on the port side.
Each voyage is a chart of eight rows that forks as it climbs: warm water to the west ends at the Reef King, the cold north to the east at the Drowned Admiral. Pick the next mark: raiders, a man-of-war, fireships, a wreck, a chandler to trade with, or a squall. Enemy shot holes her side and the sea comes in. Patch the holes and work the pump, or she goes down.
Forty-one meters from taffrail to stem, a quarterdeck and forecastle, two square-rigged masts and twelve guns. The same wave math drives the sea you see and how she rides it, in calm, squall or full storm.
Eight rows of marks from Home port, forking toward two finales. Raiders under black canvas, a navy man-of-war, fireships steered straight at you, wrecks with plunder, squalls where lightning finds the masts, and chandlers who sell repairs and gear.
Every hole lets the sea in. Stand by a hole and hold E to patch it, and hold Space at the chain pump to clear the hold. Water in the hold slows her down, and a full hold sinks her.
The Gunner loads faster and has Double Shot and Run Out. The Boarder patches twice as fast and carries a Fire Pot and a Patch Kit. The Windcaller works the pump at double pace and can Call Lightning or bring a Fair Wind.
Home Waters, the Emerald Shoals, the Grey Banks, Tempest Reach, the White Narrows, the Ashen Isles, the Drowned Reach and the King's Reef. Each sets the look of the sea and sky, and what rises out of it.
Sail the warm south and the Reef King circles under the keel, rises abeam and grabs the rail, open to shot only while it is up. Sail the cold north into the Drowned Reach and a bell tolls in the fog: the Drowned Admiral, a dead fleet's flagship.
Heavy Shot, Long Nines, Quick Hands, Heated Shot, Chain Shot, Grape and Canister, Copper Bottom, Live Oak Planking, Chain Pumps, a Ship's Carpenter, a Gilded Figurehead and Storm Canvas.
Earn XP and Pieces of Eight every voyage. Climb 30 ranks from Able Seaman to Admiral, then Admiral I to III. Take three Admiralty orders a day and weekly contracts, earn 46 deeds, master your berth, and dress your ship and sailor from 172 looks in the Locker.
Name your crew as a fleet of up to 8 hands with a shared record and a weekly fleet board. Buy a livery once and every hand who finishes a voyage with you can fly it, or commission a look for a crewmate with your Pieces of Eight.
Win a finale and Notoriety opens: ten tiers that each make the sea meaner, pay more and fly a flag of their own.
Wind and a sailing polar, day and night, rain and lightning, a spyglass, and sea life: dolphins on the bow wave, humpbacks that breach, sharks round a wreck, turtles, flying fish and glowing jellyfish at night.
