Overview

One of you isn't who they seem.

Lookalike is a social deduction party game for 4 to 10 friends, right in your browser. Everyone walks the Relay, a mountaintop broadcast station, doing quick tasks. One to three players are secretly the Lookalike. They silence the crew one by one, crawl through ducts, sabotage the station and copy other players' faces.

Find a body and report it. Something feels off, ring the bell in the Studio. Every meeting you argue it out in the chat and vote someone off. The crew wins by finishing every task or catching every Lookalike. The Lookalike wins by matching the crew in numbers, or when a meltdown goes unstopped.

  • 4 to 10 players, one to three of them Lookalikes
  • Two maps: the Relay and Vacancy Motel
  • 15 task mini-games on each map
  • Silence, ducts, disguise and four sabotages for the Lookalike
  • Meetings with text chat, a vote and a skip
  • Host settings for cooldowns, vision, timers and tasks
  • Bots to fill the room, or play solo
  • Optional Sheriff and Engineer roles
  • A card of every game to share
  • No accounts, no mic: a name and a room code

Everyone plays as one of Lookalike's own characters. Pick from 12 colors and 12 hats at the mirror in the Green Room. The Lookalike can wear your look and your name.

Features

What makes it tick.

The maps

A station and a motel

The Relay is a mountaintop broadcast station with ten rooms joined by halls. Vacancy Motel has an open pool deck and parking lot with long sight lines, small guest rooms and a meltdown that splits you up. You only see what is in your line of sight.

Tasks

Fifteen quick mini-games

Swipe your badge, patch the cables, reboot the server, align the antenna, fuel the generator. Every finished task fills the crew's task bar, and ghosts keep working on theirs.

The Lookalike

Silence. Duct. Disguise.

Silence a crew member in range with Q. Duct between linked rooms with V. Press X to copy another player's look and name (15 seconds by default) and walk right past them.

Sabotage

Break the station

Kill the lights, jam comms, lock a room's doors, or start a meltdown that two players have to stop by holding both keys in Transmitter within 45 seconds.

Meetings

Talk it out, then vote

Report a body or ring the bell. Everyone gets talk time in the chat, then a vote with a skip. The top vote is ejected. Ties and skips eject nobody.

Watching

Cameras and the admin map

Four live camera feeds in Security and an admin table in Control that counts who is in each room. A red light on the console tells everyone the cameras are being watched.

Crew tasks in the Studio, the bell on its table

How a game works

Three steps. One liar.

01

Do your tasks

The crew walks the Relay and finishes quick tasks in every room. One to three of you are secretly the Lookalike, faking tasks and picking off the crew.

02

Call a meeting

Find a body and report it, or ring the bell in the Studio. Everyone stops where they are and the meeting starts.

03

Vote

Talk it out in the chat, then vote or skip. The top vote is ejected. Catch every Lookalike before they match the crew in numbers.

Sabotage

Four ways to break the station.

Kill the lightsSabotage

Crew vision shrinks to a few tiles. Fix it in Generator.

Jam commsSabotage

Task lists, cameras and the admin map go dark. Fix it in Comms.

MeltdownSabotage

Two players hold the two keys in Transmitter at once, within 45 seconds.

Lock the doorsSabotage

Close one room's doors for 10 seconds. Click the room on the map.

Controls

Pick it up in a minute.

The latest changes, newest first. Tell us what you think in the Discord.

  1. Vacancy Motel

A second map, picked at the laptop: a roadside motel at night with an open pool deck and parking lot, guest rooms, a diner and a laundry. The meltdown keys are in two different rooms.

  2. Mimic is now Lookalike

Same game, new name. Old links still work.

  3. Mutiny accounts

Sign in with the same Mutiny account as Last Ember and Grindzone and your wins save, as crew and as the Lookalike. Your record shows on your account page.

  4. Sheriff and Engineer

Two new crew roles, stats at the end of every game, and a share card for the group chat.

Earlier updates
  1. Bots

Fill a room with up to nine bots or play solo. Crew bots do tasks, report bodies, fix sabotage and vote on evidence. A Lookalike bot fakes tasks and strikes when nobody is looking.

  2. Bigger meetings

Larger meeting cards and faces in the chat.

  3. 1.0 · Rebuilt from scratch

Lookalike is now a real-time social deduction game for 4 to 10 players on the Relay, a mountaintop broadcast station.

FAQ

Questions players ask.

How many players do you need for Lookalike?

Four to ten, and bots count. The host can't start a game with fewer than four, and a room is full at ten. To play alone, press Play with bots and add three or more bots.

Do you need a mic to play Lookalike?

No. Meetings use text chat, and nothing is recorded. The game is best on a call with friends, like Discord, but it works without one.

How many Lookalikes are there?

One by default. The host can set up to three, capped by the player count: one Lookalike under 7 players, up to two at 7 or 8, and up to three at 9 or 10.

How do you win as the crew in Lookalike?

Finish every task so the task bar fills, or vote out every Lookalike. Ghosts can keep doing tasks, so being silenced does not take you out of the race.

What happens if the vote is tied?

Nobody is ejected. Nobody is ejected when skip gets the most votes either.

Is Lookalike free?

Yes. It runs free in your browser at /lookalike, on a computer or a phone.

Free in your browser. Grab three to nine friends, start a room and send the code.
