Last Ember Wardrobe guide: every look and how to earn it
Every Last Ember look in the 3.21 Wardrobe: how gear changes shape with each metal, plus headgear, capes, wings, dyes, titles and frames and how to get them.

The Wardrobe is where you dress your survivor in Last Ember. Open it from Survivor > Looks in the menu. It holds headgear, a cape, wings or a banner for your back, a dye, a title, a portrait frame, gear looks, your colors and your flame. Looks never change your stats. Everything you unlock belongs to your whole account, what each survivor wears is their own choice, and your party sees your looks in the lobby and in the run, in both Classic and 3D.
How does gear change with each metal?
Before you touch the Wardrobe, your gear already changes how you look. Since 3.21 every metal changes the silhouette, not just the color, and each metal makes the piece a size bigger (about 7% per step). Rarity adds light on top: rare gear has a blue sheen, epic a violet glow and drifting sparks, legendary a golden blaze with trailing embers.

Epic and legendary armor is set with violet or gold gems, and legendary armor adds a burning aura. Charms hang on a chain with a gem that lights up from rare. A silver charm comes alive as a small familiar that circles you, and an emberite charm gives that familiar rings. The Gear page lists all of this in plain words for what you wear, and you can try any piece on before you equip it. The gear and crafting guide covers what the gear actually does.
What are gear looks?
Every weapon, armor and charm a survivor has ever owned adds its look (its metal and rarity) to that survivor's collection for good, even after you salvage it. On the Wardrobe's Gear looks page you can show any of them in place of what you wear, slot by slot. If you love your old silver hatchet but wear an emberite one, you can keep the silver look and the emberite stats. Gear looks belong to each survivor, since each survivor owns their own gear.
What headgear is there?
Headgear takes the place of your class's own hat. The Lantern Halo is the exception: it floats over the hat you already wear.
| Headgear | Rarity | How to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Traveler's Hood | Common | 150 embers |
| Captain's Tricorn | Rare | 400 embers |
| Wizard's Peak | Rare | 400 embers |
| Horned Helm | Rare | 450 embers |
| Lantern Halo | Epic | 800 embers |
| Antler Crown | Epic | Bring down the Stag |
| Wolf Skull Helm | Epic | Bring down Moonfang |
| Ember Crown | Legendary | Seal the Ember Rift |
What can you wear on your back?
A cosmetic back piece takes the place of the cape your class or your armor gives you:
| Back piece | Rarity | How to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Tattered Cloak | Common | 150 embers |
| Royal Mantle | Rare | 500 embers |
| Shadow Shroud | Epic | 900 embers |
| War Banner | Epic | 900 embers |
| Bear Fur Mantle | Rare | Finish an Expedition |
| Bone Wings | Epic | Clear Boss Rush IV |
| Ember Wings | Legendary | Clear Boss Rush V |
Two switches next to your preview let you hide things without losing your picks. Show headgear off shows your hair: no class hat, no headgear and no helm pieces. Show capes off hides every cape, your class's, your armor's and any cosmetic one.
How do dyes work?
A dye colors your armor's cloth and leather, your capes and your hood or hat. Plate keeps its metal. Five dyes are free for everyone: Crimson, Royal Blue, Forest, Coal and Bone. Six more unlock with embers:
| Dye | Rarity | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Gold | Rare | 150 embers |
| Violet | Rare | 150 embers |
| Rust | Rare | 150 embers |
| Teal | Rare | 200 embers |
| Rose | Rare | 200 embers |
| Midnight | Epic | 300 embers |
How do you earn titles?
A title shows with your name: on your portrait frame in a run, your party's frames, the lobby and your roster. Titles are earned, never sold.
| Title | Rarity | How to earn it |
|---|---|---|
| the Unburnt | Common | Reach day 10 |
| Stagslayer | Rare | Bring down the Stag |
| Fangbreaker | Rare | Bring down Moonfang |
| Lanternbane | Rare | Bring down the Lantern Eater |
| Stonebreaker | Rare | Bring down a Colossus |
| Broodbane | Rare | Bring down a Brood Mother |
| the Devoted | Rare | Play the Daily Challenge 7 days in a row |
| Riftbreaker | Epic | Seal the Ember Rift |
| Wayfarer | Epic | Finish an Expedition |
| the Last Light | Legendary | Bring down the Last Dark |
| Rushmaster | Legendary | Clear Boss Rush V |
| Legend of the Long Night | Legendary | Reach wave 20 in The Long Night |
| Founder | Founder | Play Last Ember before it reaches Steam |
Boss titles and crowns count a boss on any map and in any mode, so the Pale Stag on Frostfall or a Stag in the Boss Rush earns Stagslayer just like the Hollow Stag. Every boss you bring down already sends a trophy to your Homestead, and that trophy is what the game checks. See the bosses guide for each fight.
What portrait frames are there?
A frame rings your portrait, in your own frame and in your party's. The plain ring is Bronze.
| Frame | Rarity | How to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Silver | Rare | Reach survivor level 20 |
| Gold | Epic | Reach survivor level 40 |
| Ember | Rare | 500 embers |
| Frost | Rare | 500 embers |
| Founder | Founder | Play Last Ember before it reaches Steam |
What is the Founder reward?
Everyone who plays Last Ember before it reaches Steam is a Founder and gets both the Founder title and the Founder frame, in their own Founder rarity color. It unlocks automatically for your account, so playing now is the only way to get it.
How do you unlock and buy looks?
- Bought looks cost the embers of the survivor you have selected, and unlock for every survivor on your account. You can buy them on the Wardrobe card itself, or in the Ember shop: the Camp tab's Looks page lists headgear, capes and wings, dyes, frames and palettes in one place.
- Earned looks unlock on their own the moment you qualify. The game checks after every run, and also when you load in, so things you did before 3.21 (bosses already beaten, tiers already cleared, levels already reached) count. The end-of-run screen tells you what you earned.
- What counts: the game looks at everything the account has done: every survivor's best day, levels, Boss Rush and Expedition tiers, your Homestead's trophies, and a few tallies such as your Daily Challenge streak.
- Colors and flames: your own eight colors are free. The six palettes (Obsidian, Emberforged, Frostborn, Wildwood, Royal and Bloodmoon) and five flame colors also live in the Wardrobe, and your flame colors every fire in your runs for everyone. The Homestead guide covers the rest of the Ember shop.
How do you wear a look?
- Open Survivor > Looks and pick a page: Headgear, Back, Dye, Title, Frame, Gear looks, Colors or Flame.
- Point at any card to try it on: your survivor's preview wears it right away, even if you do not own it yet.
- Click a look you own to wear it, or press Unlock on one you can buy and confirm the price.
- Pick the first card on a page (Class hat, From your gear, Natural, No title or Bronze) to go back to the default.
Everything you wear is saved per survivor, so your Woodsman and your Emberwitch can wear different looks from the same unlocked collection. In co-op your looks and title travel with you, so the whole party sees them in the lobby before the run starts. The co-op guide explains the rest of the party features.
Frequently asked questions
Do looks change stats in Last Ember?
No. Headgear, capes, dyes, titles, frames, gear looks, palettes and flames are style only. Your stats always come from the gear you actually wear.
Where is the Wardrobe?
In the menu, under Survivor > Looks. The Camp tab's Looks page in the Ember shop sells the same items.
Are unlocked looks shared between survivors?
Yes. Anything you buy or earn unlocks for every survivor on the account, and each survivor chooses what to wear. Gear looks are the one exception, since they come from the gear each survivor has owned.
How do I get the Founder title?
Play Last Ember before it reaches Steam. The Founder title and frame unlock for your account automatically.
Can I buy titles?
No. Titles are earned, never sold, from bosses, the Ember Rift, Expeditions, Boss Rush V, the Long Night, Daily streaks and reaching day 10.
