Mimic tasks and map guide: every room, task, vent and fix

Mimic is played on the Relay, a mountaintop broadcast station with 10 rooms joined by halls. This guide covers every room, all 15 task mini-games and where they are, the three vent networks, the cameras and the admin map, and where to fix each sabotage. Knowing the map is how the crew moves fast and how the Mimic builds an alibi.

What rooms are on the Relay?

The station has ten rooms. The Studio sits in the middle, and it is where every game starts and every meeting ends.

What are all the tasks in Mimic?

There are 15 task mini-games. Some tasks are one mini-game, and the long ones chain two. Each task panel shows a one-line hint and its own keys at the top.

Patch the cables has two separate stations, one in Generator and one in Transmitter, and each counts as its own short task.

How tasks are dealt

  • With the default settings, every crew member gets one common task, one long task and three short tasks. The host can change those counts in the Green Room.
  • The common task is the same for everyone. Swipe your badge is the only common task, so with it on, the whole crew has a reason to visit the Lounge.
  • A long task with two steps counts once, when the second step is done. Until then your list shows (1/2).
  • Your next stations glow on the floor and show as yellow dots on your map (Tab or M).
  • The task bar counts crew tasks only. A Mimic's list is fake, so a Mimic never moves the bar.

How do the vents connect?

Only Mimics can use vents. There are nine vents in three networks, and each vent links to the other two in its network. Press V next to a vent to climb in, pick a room on the buttons or hop with the arrow keys, and press V to climb out.

  • A Mimic in a duct is invisible on the floor, on the cameras and on the admin map.
  • Climbing in or out leaves a little puff of smoke that anyone in sight can see.
  • You can't silence anyone from inside a duct.
  • The Studio has no vent, so a Mimic has to walk to the middle of the station.

How do the cameras and admin map work?

Security cameras

The console in Security shows four live feeds: the West hall, the East hall, the North hall and the South hall. The feeds show everyone in view with no fog, plus any bodies. While anyone watches, a red light blinks on the console out on the floor, so the whole station can tell the cameras are being watched.

A disguised Mimic shows on camera as the player they copied. Players in a duct don't show at all.

The admin map

The table in Control shows the station with a dot for each person in each room, updated live. It counts bodies too, and it does not count anyone in the halls or in a duct. It shows how many, not who.

Jamming comms takes the cameras and the admin map down for everyone until the jam is cleared.

Where do you fix each sabotage?

When a sabotage starts, a red banner tells the crew where to go, the fix stations flash on the map, and arrows at the edge of the screen point to them. Ghosts can't fix sabotage.

SabotageWhere to fix itHow
Lights outGeneratorFlip every switch up (keys 1 to 5)
Comms jammedCommsTune the radio to the frequency on the note
MeltdownTransmitter, two keysTwo different players press and hold Key 1 and Key 2 at the same time, within 45 seconds
Doors lockedNowhereThe doors open on their own after 10 seconds

The two meltdown keys are at opposite corners of Transmitter, so one player can't hold both. If you grab the second key, you let go of the first. Calling a meeting also ends any sabotage that is running, but the bell can't be rung during a meltdown, so only a body report does that.

What is the best route around the station?

  • Check your list for the long tasks first. Fuel the generator runs from Storage up to Generator, and Move the footage runs from Archive across to Control. Plan them so you don't double back.
  • Archive, Control and the Lounge sit along the top hall. Generator, the Studio and Comms sit across the middle. Storage, the Server Room, Security and Transmitter run along the bottom.
  • The halls are where the cameras look. Walking them puts you on the record.
  • Transmitter is the far corner of the station, with one hall in from Comms and one from Security. It is a long way from Archive or Storage if a meltdown starts while you are over there.
